The GEO Global Land Cover (GLC) initiative
GLC is developing maps, which are essential for integrated
planning and for managing resources in different thematic
areas such as water, biodiversity, energy and food security.
Regional and continent level maps will be produced. African
countries are strongly encouraged to participate to gain the
maximum benefit from this initiative.
Land-cover characteristics reveal ongoing processes of
deforestation and desertification. Here, degradated land
